Grammar
Students study and apply English grammar in writing and speaking for business, social and academic situations.

Listening and Speaking
In this class, students learn the skills necessary for conversation and academic classroom participation. Classes cover idioms, pronunciation, spoken grammar, register, and listening for lecture comprehension.

Reading
Reading students develop their English vocabulary and reading skills for business and academic success. They learn to skim and scan for details, make inferences, draw conclusions and distinguish between different writing styles.

Writing
Students in this course learn the basic skills of English writing. Students learn how to write English sentences and paragraphs for notes, letters, and essays. Advanced students learn how to write for university classes.

Usage and Fluency
In this class, students practice speaking clearly and fluently using the vocabulary, grammar, idioms, and expressions they have learned in other classes. This class follows the Grammar class on Mondays and Wednesdays and the Reading class on Tuesdays and Thursdays and cannot be taken alone.

TOEFL Preparation
Students at levels 3, 4 and 5 improve listening, grammar and reading skills to achieve the scores they need for college admission. For more information on the TOEFL, please click here.

Pronunciation and Idioms
Students practice English speaking fluency and pronunciation and study common English idioms and expressions.

ESL- CLEP
Teaches English and prepares students to take a CLEP exam in a college subject area. The CLEP exam score can be used for course credit at most US colleges and universities.

Comparative Cultures: the US in the Global Setting
This course stresses English language study and use in the context of exploring and comparing US and world cultures, attitudes, values, and behaviors with the student’s own cross-cultural adjustment and adaptation. May only be taken as part of the full College Intensive program.

Guided Studies and Tutorials
Supervised study, practice and tutoring in support of the student’s other language learning courses. May only be taken as part of the full College Intensive program.

Test Preparation
Training for language sections of graduate school admissions tests such as the GRE, GMAT and LSAT.

Individual Tutoring
Individual tutoring is available in all subjects and in test preparation for the MCAT and USMLE.
